Dataguise Announces Big Data Protection Partner Program

Big Data security provider Dataguise has announced the creation of the Big Data Protection Partner Program (BDP3) aimed at channel partners with customers working on Big Data projects. The new program was built around Dataguise’ data privacy protection and risk assessment analytics solutions, which enable the company to protect important end user information from prying eyes.

“The key challenge with Big Data today is to fully leverage all this important information while addressing compliance issues and protecting against data breaches and insider threats,” said Manmeet Singh, co-founder and CEO of Dataguise, in a prepared statement. “Partnering with industry experts in the deployment and scalability of Big Data platforms places us in a unique position. Our goal is to create a best-in-class Big Data protection ecosystem and provide discovery and protection of sensitive data — no matter where it came from or currently resides.”

The program will include access to a partner portal with sales and marketing tools and joint marketing with Dataguise, as well as access to internal use licenses and other standard features seen in many similar partner programs within the channel.

“What we see is that there’s a very win-win relationship here because for many Big Data [companies] a lot of times they are going along and may be doing a project and a sandbox and a proof of concept, and now they are ready to go into the next phase … and then all the sudden they have compliance issues,” said Patty Nghiem, Dataguise’s vice president of Marketing and Business Development, in an interview with The VAR Guy. “Because we handle structured as well as unstructured data we’re able to really discover and protect that data like nobody else.”

Dataguise has been active in the Big Data market since 2008, working with several large credit card companies and other enterprises to discover, mask and encrypt sensitive data. The company mainly focuses on data protection, encryption and masking in Apache Hadoop. Dataguise currently has several large technology alliances with MapR, Cloudera and Hortonworks and with different systems integrators dealing in Big Data, effectively bridging the gap between disparate vendors who might not normally work together, according to Nghiem.

“We’re able to connect different vendors together like nobody else,” Nghiem said. “For us to be able to do a partner program like this is very natural.”
