Dataguise + eBay: Winners of Teradata 2017 EPIC Award for Enterprise Intelligence

We’re thrilled to announce that, last night during the Teradata PARTNERS Conference in Anaheim, CA, Dataguise and eBay won a Teradata EPIC award for “Enterprise Intelligence.” We managed to capture the moment on video. Check it out below:

Now in its 10th year, the EPIC Awards program recognizes the world’s best in taking a data-driven approach to generating business, marketing, or operational success. Partner Awards recognize an Independent Software Vendor (ISV)—that’s us—who has made standout-level business and technology contributions to Teradata and its customers—in this case, eBay. What’s strikes me as a solid proof point for Dataguise, and a hopeful shift for the data security industry in general, is that the award was for “enterprise intelligence.” We didn’t win it for data masking… or data encryption… or even data security. The focus of our work at eBay is on detection (discovery), which is the foundational first step of any successful sensitive data governance strategy. We’re helping eBay gain visibility and awareness (i.e., intelligence) of all sensitive data in their Teradata repositories so that they can determine how best to protect that data to mitigate the compliance and privacy risks that eBay (and their shareholders and their customers) worry about… and rightfully so.

With no end in sight to evolving and expanding data privacy regulations (the GDPR comes to mind), every organization needs to start focusing on governance, not just security, if they want to fully leverage their vast data stores for analytics-driven business growth and insights.

You can visit the Teradata website for the synopses of all the 2017 EPIC Award winners.

Congratulations to Dataguise and eBay!
